<description>FlatNotes is a markdown notes app that keeps every note as a plain file. Hosted FlatNotes opens on your phone from anywhere, behind your login. Run FlatNotes with ElfHosted, and your notes have their own secure address: add it to your phone's home screen and it opens like an app, from anywhere, not just from inside the house. It sits behind your ElfHosted login, with an optional FlatNotes password or code on top. Prefer your own editor? Open the notes folder in the file manager, or sync it to your desktop, and edit the same files there. What is FlatNotes? A simple, open-source notes app from the FlatNotes project, with no database. Your markdown notes live on disk as plain files, one per note, so the files are the data: readable in any text editor, with or without FlatNotes. Type a hashtag anywhere in a note to tag it, and full-text search finds it again. It suits anyone who wants a notes app that won't trap them, and pairs well with a desktop editor such as Obsidian or VS Code, synced with rclone or Syncthing. With hosted FlatNotes, we run it and keep it updated, with no Python or Docker for you to look after. It's backed up daily, and you can restore it yourself whenever you need to. If something's not right, Sam checks your apps, tells you what's wrong, and asks before fixing it. When Sam can't help, our team is on Discord around the clock, in a family-friendly, carefully moderated server. FlatNotes is part of the ElfHosted Flex collection: a Flex plan runs several apps from the collection at once, and you swap which ones whenever you like. Every Flex plan starts with a 7-day trial. FlatNotes is open source; ElfHosted is not affiliated with the FlatNotes project. You can support its developer through GitHub Sponsors. It's one place for support for every app you run with us, handled by professionals, instead of a GitHub issue, docs that may be out of date, or yet another Discord per project. Unlike a generic chatbot, which guesses and overcomplicates, Sam is tuned on these apps and the way we run them: he safely reads your actual logs and proposes a fix, and nothing changes until you approve it.
