What is Baikal? Calendar and contacts sync for every device

Baikal is a CalDAV server for calendar and contacts sync across the family's phones and laptops. Hosted on ElfHosted, it syncs from anywhere. Run Baikal with ElfHosted, and it has its own secure address that your devices connect to directly, so the family's phones sync from home, school or the beach with no port-forwarding and no server at your house. Your dates and address book live on your own instance, not a big provider's cloud. Baikal itself is the work of the Baikal project: an open-source CalDAV server and CardDAV server. What is Baikal? The plumbing behind calendar and contacts sync. Add an appointment on one device and it shows up on the others, with your address book kept in step the same way. It uses the open standards the built-in calendar and contacts apps on iOS, Android and macOS already speak, and desktop clients like Thunderbird connect too. Run separate calendars and address books for each person, and when a phone is lost or replaced, sign the new one in and every date and contact comes straight back. With hosted Baikal, ElfHosted keeps it running and updated, beside your other apps on your ElfHosted dashboard. It's backed up daily, and you can restore it yourself whenever you need to, and if something looks wrong, Sam checks your apps, tells you what's wrong and asks before fixing it. If Sam can't help, our team is on Discord around the clock, in a family-friendly, carefully moderated server. Baikal is new to ElfHosted and in Early Access. It's part of the ElfHosted Flex collection: a Flex plan runs several apps from the collection at once, you swap which ones whenever you like, and every Flex plan starts with a 7-day trial. Baikal is open source; ElfHosted is not affiliated with the Baikal project. It's one place for support for every app you run with us, handled by professionals, instead of a GitHub issue, docs that may be out of date, or yet another Discord per project. Unlike a generic chatbot, which guesses and overcomplicates, Sam is tuned on these apps and the way we run them: he safely reads your actual logs and proposes a fix, and nothing changes until you approve it.
