Part three of The Paper Mountain. Five apps on the old garage computer means five sets of updates. Maya's at the till with a queue out the door and VoucherVault won't open, because it only works on the home wifi. Then the rain finds the garage: the computer is standing in a puddle, and the HomeBox home inventory and its backup are on that one computer. Uncle Darren's fix: bricks, a battery backup and a nightly sync to his rack, with Robin's Saturdays till spring. So Robin moves all five to ElfHosted. Warracker, HomeBox, LubeLogger, VoucherVault and Donetick each get a secure address of their own, so they open at the till, at the mechanic's or in the garage. They're kept running and updated, backed up daily with self-service restores, and kept well away from the garage. Warracker's expiry alerts can go through your own hosted ntfy, straight to the family's phones. Sam, ElfHosted's AI helper, is Robin's sidekick: tuned on our apps and the way we run them, he safely reads your actual logs and proposes a fix, and nothing changes until you approve it. When Sam can't help, the ElfHosted team is on Discord around the clock, in a family-friendly, carefully moderated server. All five are part of the ElfHosted Flex collection: a Flex plan runs several apps from the collection at once, and you swap which ones whenever you like; the bigger Flex plans run more at the same time. Every Flex plan starts with a 7-day trial. Warracker, HomeBox, LubeLogger, VoucherVault and Donetick are open source; ElfHosted is not affiliated with any of these projects. The Paper Mountain is a short animated saga from ElfHosted about one family's household admin: from the kitchen drawer, to five apps on a computer in the garage, and on to the same apps run by the elves. Each part stands on its own; watch them in order in the playlist on our channel.
