<description>BookBridge keeps your audiobook and ebook in sync: listen in the car in Audiobookshelf, then pick up on your e-reader from the same place. What is BookBridge? An audiobook and ebook sync service for people who both listen to and read their books. It sits between the apps you already use, Audiobookshelf for audiobooks, Kavita, Calibre-Web Automated, Grimmory or BookOrbit for ebooks, and e-readers running KOReader, and keeps your place in step across all of them. Listen to a chapter in the car, and that evening your e-reader opens where the narrator stopped. It isn't a reader itself and it doesn't hold any books: you bring the ebook and audiobook you own, and it works out where a place in one lands in the other. To do that, BookBridge lines the audio up against the text. English books line up on their own, as a quiet background job, so give a long audiobook a little while after you link it. Books you've already run through a hosted Storyteller are the most accurate, and for other languages you can add a transcription service of your own in BookBridge's settings. Your e-reader catches up a few minutes after you put it down, so by the time you're out of the car, your place is waiting. Running it yourself, the e-reader needs to reach your BookBridge from wherever you're reading, which means opening a port and keeping a certificate in order. Run hosted BookBridge with ElfHosted and it has its own secure address from day one: KOReader sync works from anywhere with no port to open, while the dashboard sits behind your ElfHosted login. It already knows where your hosted Audiobookshelf, Kavita and Storyteller live, so you bring logins rather than addresses. We keep it running and updated, it's backed up daily, and you can restore it yourself whenever you need to. Stuck? Sam, ElfHosted's AI helper, checks your actual apps, tells you what's wrong, and asks you before fixing it. And when you'd rather talk to a person, our team is on Discord around the clock, in a family-friendly, carefully moderated server. BookBridge is open source, a brilliant project by its developer, which began as a fork of abs-kosync-bridge; ElfHosted is not affiliated with it.
